Introduction

  • A Psalm that seems to have been written by someone older who reflects on a life lived with God

My Rock and My Fortress (v 1–4) Save

  • A certainty of eternal security that comes from a relationship of trust with the creator and sustainer of the entire universe

My Hope (v 5–13)

  • A lifetime of experiencing a relationship with God, knowing that God has never let you down

  • Determined that he would praise God all the time

  • The request is for God’s continued protection

I Will Declare (v 14–24)

  • There is a strong determination expressed here to tell of what God has done not only to the writer’s peers but also to the next generation

  • Older people have something unique to contribute into our church family

Application

  • What have we learnt this morning?

  • Our security is not dependant on our physical strength but on God’s never changing, undiminished almighty power

  • Older people have something unique to contribute into the church family, both encouraging and enriching others
