-
This is a psalm of individual lament
-
Verse 11 is the fulcrum on which the Psalm turns

The lack of specific detail about the author’s own circumstances means that we can use this psalm ourselves in many situations
I am Needy (v 1-7)
-
This is a model prayer, it is true for all of us all of the time
-
The author is absolutely certain of God’s faithfulness …
-
… he trusts completely in God alone
Great is Your Love (v 8-13)
-
Brueggemann describes God as the “Worker of Wondrous Impossibilities”
-
v11 is the crucial verse
Have Mercy on Me (v 14-17)
-
There is a huge contrast between how life might seem to the godless and how life seems to the person with faith
-
Note the absence of any “victim mentality” here
Application
