Introduction
- The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it, is probably the most significant part of the OT
- Some parts of the story are well known but many Christians do not understand the significance of the events for themselves today
Fruitful (v 1—7)
- It important to understand that this is not where the story starts
- Joseph’s descendents were in Egypt at God’s doing, it was His plan and there they were being blessed by God
Oppressed (v 8—14)
- The new king saw the growth of God’s people as a threat to national security
- This hard season was a part of God’s provision for His people
- God’s hand could still be seen, He was working out His plans in His time
Genocide (v 15—22)

The midwives feared God more that Pharaoh

God was still in control despite appearances
Application
- What have we learnt this morning?
- Being in God’s will does not mean life will be trouble free
- We can choose to trust that God is in control
