Introduction
- The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it, is probably the most significant part of the OT
- Some parts of the story are well known but many Christians do not understand the significance of the events for themselves today
Three Signs (v 1—9)
- God wants to talk to us and to listen to us
- But there are no guarantees, we need to trust Him
Aaron’s Mouth (v 10—17)
- Moses was criticizing God
- But we see God’s provision well in advance
- However, Moses “forfeited part of his vocation” (Chadwick)
Firstborn Son (v 18—23)
- A theme in Exodus and beyond even into the NT
- Underlines God’s care for His suffering people
Obedience Required (v 24—31)
- Circumcision was a mark of commitment to God and the putting away of sin
- God did not want to kill Moses but wanted repentance
Application

- God will give us everything we need to serve Him
- God requires complete obedience
