Text Notes
Introduction
- The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it, is probably the most significant part of the OT
- Some parts of the story are well known but many Christians do not understand the significance of the events for themselves today
The First Confrontation (v 1-5)
- Moses did not follow God’s instructions
Failure (v 6-21)
- A powerful picture of the desperate situation that the Israelites were in
- Overturning this oppression was never going to be easy, but walking in faith never is
Recommisioned (5 v 22 to 6 v 12)
- Moses turned straight back to God
- Even though Moses messed up God was still in control
Ordinary People (v 13—27)
- Motyer, “in one corner ordinary human clay; in the other, superpower royalty. But this “mere” humanity had been commissioned by the Lord”
Application
- What have we learnt this morning?
- Listen carefully to God
- Walking in faith is never easy
- God is in control even when we mess up
- We need to live with questions
