Introduction
The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it, is probably the most significant part of the OT
-
Some parts of the story are well known but many Christians do not understand the significance of the events for themselves today
Obedience (6 v 28–7 v 7)

From this point in all his dealings with Pharaoh Moses said and did only what God told him to
Swallowed (v 8–13)
-
The swallowing of the other staffs was a foretaste of what was to come
Why the Plagues?
-
They uncomfortably remind us of God’s wrath, that He judges and punishes sin
-
God gave the people of Egypt opportunity to repent at any point
-
These acts of judgment were also acts of salvation
Water into “Blood” (v 14–24)
-
The Nile was considered to be a god and was worshipped
-
This was a significant warning to Pharaoh that all of Egypt was in God’s hand

What have we learnt this morning?

Total obedience is required

With God with us no one can stand against us
