Text Notes
Introduction
-
The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it, is probably the most significant part of the OT
-
Some parts of the story are well known but many Christians do not understand the significance of the events for themselves today
Livestock (9:1-7)
-
There was a continual upward movement of the intensity and effect
Boils (9:8-12)
-
Not only could the magicians no longer reproduce the plague, this time they could not appear before Moses because of the boils
Hail (9:13-35)
-
The plagues were acts of mercy giving Pharaoh opportunities to change his actions
-
God’s agenda was not just for the Egyptians or the Israelites but for all people for all time
Locusts (10:1-20)
-
Pharaoh was fully responsible for his decisions
-
“Ruined” this ultimately is the fate of anyone who sets themselves against God
Application
-
What have we learnt this morning?
-
God wants everyone everywhere to know that He is God of all
-
God is first and foremost a God of mercy
