Text Notes

Introduction

  • The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it, is probably the most significant part of the OT

  • Some parts of the story are well known  but many Christians do not understand the significance of the events for themselves today

Darkness (10:21-29)

  • The main Egyptian god was the god of the sun, so this was a direct challenge to the whole Egyptian religious system

The Final Warning (11:1-10)

  • This time it is God who will enter Egypt Himself

  • Every person from the highest to the lowest will be affected

The Passover (12:1-28)

  • God’s people needed to mark themselves out with the blood of a lamb

  • Spreading the blood was an act of trust and faith in God

Death (12:29-30)

Application

  • John 1:29; 1 John 1:5-7

  • What have we learnt this morning?

    • You cannot ignore God’s Word

    • God has provided a way for us to be forgiven and cleansed from the things that we have done wrong
