Text Notes

Introduction

  • The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it, is probably the most significant part of the OT

  • Some parts of the story are well known but many Christians do not understand the significance of the events for themselves today

Exodus (12:31-42)

  • The people left quickly their status changed forever

Passover Rules (12:43-50)

  • Only those who made the decision to go all the way with God would be allowed to take part in the Passover

The Firstborn (13:1-16)

  • Every firstborn was to be dedicated to God

  • Their freedom had been bought at a huge price and it was vitally important that they did not forget it

God’s Presence (13:17-22)

  • The Lord had saved them …

  • … then He made the fact that He travelled with them clearly visible

Application

  • What have we learnt this morning?

  • God always sees His purposes completed

  • To be a full member of God’s people you must go all the way with God

  • We were redeemed at a huge price

  • God travels with us
