Text Notes

Introduction

  • The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it, is probably the most significant part of the OT

  • Some parts of the story are well known  but many Christians do not understand the significance of the events for themselves today

Rock Water (17:1-7)

  • Their journey through the wilderness was God’s route for them

  • Do not try to force God’s hand

Battle (17:8-15)

  • Moses activity was perhaps both prayer and prophetic action; the people’s destiny depended on it

Jethro (18:1-12)

  • Jethro became a worshipper of the LORD in response to hearing Moses testimony

Delegation (18:13-27)

  • There was a need for others to be released to do Moses’ work

Application

  • What have we learnt this morning?

  • God can take us through a wilderness

  • Others might be depending on our prayers

  • Our testimony of God is powerful

  • Delegation is of God!
