Introduction

The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it, is probably the most significant part of the OT
-
Some parts of the story are well known but many Christians do not understand the significance of the events for themselves today
No Other Gods (v 1-3)
-
God wants His people to reflect His nature and values in the way that they live their lives
-
So they are to be total in their commitment to Him
No Idols (v 4-6)
-
No images or representations of God whatsoever; anything made would misrepresent Him
God's Name (v 7)

We should do nothing to bring God-s name into disrepute
Sabbath (v 8-11)

One day of rest in seven is part of how God has made us
Parents (v 12)
