- Today we come to a significant moment when the people confirm their covenant with God
Obedience (24:1-11)
- The whole event was in the context of worship
- The people committed themselves afresh to keeping God’s Word
- In the Old Testament blood was seen to contain the life and it always belonged to God
- What took place here was a clear spelling out of the way that the people were to live their lives
- There was no negotiation
- God was manifestly present at the fellowship meal
The Glory of the Lord (24:12-18)
- The cloud and fire proclaimed God as worthy of honour and worship; yet it concealed His form
The New Covenant
- This passage is a major part of the Old Testament background to the celebration of communion in the New Testiment
Application
