Introduction
- The book of Exodus, and the events narrated in it is probably the most significant part of the Old Testament
Incense (v 1-10)
- The image is of peoples’ prayers rising to God
Crossing Over (v 11-16)
- Motyer; “each one must individually undertake the responsibility, make the decision and pay the price”
Staying Holy (v 17-21)
- If they entered God’s presence in an unholy state they could die
- We are cleansed by confessing our sin
Anointing (v 22-38)
- A symbolic recognition of something being set aside exclusively for God’s use
- Salt, perhaps for its symbolic value as a sign of a permanent covenant
Spirit Filled (31 v 1-11)
- We see the Holy Spirit filling people to enable them to do practical work
Resting (v 12-18)
- Just because we are doing God’s work does not mean that we can sit loose on God’s law
Application
What have we learnt this morning?
- We need to “pay the price”
- We need to stay holy
- God’s Spirit enables us for every aspect of life
- Rest is vital
